Magnitude 6 earthquake jolts Batuan, Masbate

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake jolted Batuan, Masbate at 2:10 am on Thursday, February 16, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
In a bulletin, Phivolcs also reported that intensity 7 was felt in the province's capital city, Masbate City while intensity 5 was in Dimasalang, San Fernando, and Uson, Masbate.
Other areas that felt intensities are as follows:
- Intensity IV - City of Legazpi, Albay; Aroroy, Cataingan, Esperanza, Milagros, and Pio V. Corpuz, Masbate; Irosin, and City of Sorsogon, Sorsogon
- Intensity III - Daraga, Albay
The state seismologist also said Instrumental Intensities were recorded in the following areas:
- Intensity VI - City of Masbate, Masbate
- Intensity IV - Bulusan, and City of Sorsogon, Sorsogon; City of Bogo, Cebu
- Intensity III - City of Legazpi, and City of Tabaco, Albay; City of Iriga, Camarines Sur; City of Bago, Negros Occidental; Alangalang, Calubian, Isabel, Kananga, and Palo, Leyte; Ormoc City; Rosario, Northern Samar
- Intensity II - Gumaca, Quezon; Daet, Camarines Norte; Ragay, Camarines Sur; Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon; Malinao, Aklan; Jamindan, and Tapaz, Capiz; Argao, Cebu; Can-Avid, Eastern Samar; Abuyog, and Dulag, Leyte; San Roque, Northern Samar
- Intensity I - Lopez, Mulanay, and Polillo, Quezon; Boac, Marinduque; Pandan, Antique; City of La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte

As of 8 am, Phivolcs reported that there were total of 81 aftershocks recorded.
Of the 81 aftershocks, 33 were plotted and 13 were felt.
The said aftershocks ranged from 1.6 to 4.2
