The expanded number coding scheme will be suspended starting Tuesday, August 23 until Wednesday, August 24 due to the heavy rainfall caused by Severe Tropical Storm Florita, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

"In view of the suspension of classes and work by Malacañang and due to heavy rains, the number coding scheme is suspended today and tomorrow," the MMDA said in a message to reporters.

The MMDA made the announcement after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared the suspension of all government work and classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

In an advisory, the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) said the suspension of work in government offices and classes in public schools takes effect on Tuesday at 1:00 PM.
