The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 entries earned more than P100 million on its first two days due to loosened COVID-19 restrictions, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

In an interview in Dos Por Dos with Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja, MMDA Chairman Romando Artes mentioned that this year’s MMFF gross beat major foreign films.

“Ngayon pong taon, napaganda po ng resulta. Mukhang bumabalik na po ‘yung ating mga kababayan sa panonood. In fact, ito pong first two days natin, tinalo po natin ‘yung first two days ng gross noong malalaking pelikula na international,” he said.

Its first two days also surpassed the overall sales of past 2020 and 2021 entries.

The film fest started releasing entries on Christmas day, Dec. 25, and will be available in cinemas until the first week of January 2023.
