The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) apprehended four individuals in Sta. Cruz, Manila, for their alleged involvement in falsifying public documents.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago reported that the suspects were offering counterfeit NBI clearances, land titles, passports, and other documents, with prices ranging from P700 to P2,500.
The Bureau launched surveillance and test buy operations to monitor and confirm the illegal activity being conducted.
Operatives from the NBI-Special Task Force (NBI-STF), in coordination with local police, conducted an entrapment operation at the target location on October 14.
Authorities seized computers, office equipment, and various forged documents from the arrested suspects, including NBI clearances, PSA certificates, land titles, and LTO certificates.
The suspects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office and are set to face charges for violating Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code.
