Major General Sidney Hernia, the head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), labeled the extortion allegations against him and 14 other police officers as unfounded and unsubstantiated.

This is in connection with their recent operation targeting the so-called ‘Mother of All Scam Hubs,’ led by the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group at Century Peak Tower in Ermita, Manila.

Hernia stated that he would not tolerate any illegal actions by police officers and called on the accusers to present their allegations in the proper forum. They have expressed their readiness to undergo any investigation to clear their names.

He further stated that this is also a good opportunity to demonstrate their transparency and prove the legitimacy of the operation in question.

The NCRPO Chief further emphasized that the investigation will reveal the truth, showing that the authorities followed the proper procedures and guidelines.

He also assured that their actions would demonstrate their commitment and dedication to integrity and public service, with a focus on eliminating crime and protecting the Filipino people from illegal activities.

Initially, four arrested Chinese nationals filed charges against Hernia and 14 other police officers, claiming that their operation was illegal. They alleged that they were not informed of their rights and were even reportedly extorted for one million pesos each.
