Negros Occidental and its provincial capital joined together to call for justice following the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel that happened at his residence in Pamplona on Saturday morning.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez both issued statements condemning the violent attack on their fellow elected officials.

Five more people were killed, and nine more were injured.

Lacson, who met with Degamo last month to discuss the proposed Negros Island Region, stated that violent crimes must be eliminated.
