In commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the Department of Health (DOH), a seamless turnover of leadership took place, symbolizing the organization's commitment to progress and the well-being of all Filipinos.
Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire officially handed over the reins to the newly appointed DOH Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa.
The turnover ceremony coincided with the week-long celebration themed "One25. ONE DOH: Sama-sama Tungo sa Pagbabago at Kalusugan ng Lahat."
During the flag-raising ceremony, Secretary Herbosa received the DOH banner from Dr. Singh-Vergeire, signifying the transfer of authority.
In his speech, Secretary Herbosa expressed his dedication to upholding good governance and implementing the reforms initiated by Undersecretary Vergeire.
He outlined his comprehensive eight-point action agenda, which focuses on the full implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act.
The agenda includes priorities such as:
- Bawat Pilipino, ramdam ang kalusugan;
- Ligtas, dekalidad, at mapagkalingang serbisyo;
- Teknolohiya para sa mabilis na serbisyong pangkalusugan;
- Handa sa krisis;
- Pag-iwas sa sakit;
- Ginhawa ng isip at damdamin;
- Kapakanan at karapatan ng health workers, and
- Proteksyon sa anumang pandemya.
Secretary Herbosa concluded his address by emphasizing the importance of unity in creating a healthier and more resilient future for the nation.
He expressed confidence in achieving a healthy, comfortable, and secure life for all Filipinos in the generations to come.
"Let us be united in building a healthier, more resilient future. I am confident that together we will bring a healthy, comfortable, and secure life for every Filipino for generations to come. Sa Healthy Pilipinas: Bawat Buhay Mahalaga!" he stated.
