Former Sultan Kudarat Governor Suharto Mangudadatu has officially assumed the role of Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

During the turnover ceremony with acting Director General Danilo Cruz, Mangudadatu presented a comprehensive 10-point agenda that will shape TESDA's focus over the next six years.

One of the primary goals outlined in the agenda is to bring TESDA's programs closer to the grassroots level through the TESDA sa Barangay initiative.

This aims to provide access to scholarships and free training programs within different communities. Another crucial aspect is the review of TESDA training regulations, ensuring that technical-vocational courses align with industry demands for local and overseas employment opportunities.

Recognizing the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in empowering marginalized sectors, Mangudadatu will prioritize the enhancement of TVET programs to meet the specific needs of industries and localities.

Compliance and enhanced monitoring of TESDA-accredited schools and learning centers will also be emphasized to ensure program registration, certification, and facility requirements are met.

In a bid to streamline the application process for TESDA scholarship programs, the agenda includes the enhancement of online applications.

Additionally, TESDA aims to promote rural enterprise and area development through TVET, driving progress in rural areas.

Youth entrepreneurship, or "Youthpreneurship," will be fostered through direct partnerships with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and other youth organizations. This collaboration will empower young individuals by providing information and skills development opportunities through TESDA programs.

The TESDA Industry Exchange Program will strengthen ties between the industry and TESDA, enabling the continuous training of trainers and students.

Furthermore, TESDA will introduce HALAL TVET, tapping into the HALAL business sector by promoting HALAL TVET programs.

To ensure effective governance, the newly appointed secretary emphasizes the need for a strong internal structure within the agency. This involves strengthening and regenerating all departments, divisions, and offices to ensure reliability and accountability in providing the necessary educational support to students and trainers.

With a renewed leadership and vision, TESDA aims to empower Filipinos with the education and skills they need to thrive in the workforce.
