An accused member of the infamous "Tiñga Drug Syndicate" was recently arrested, according to Taguig City Police, who made the announcement on Wednesday.
Col. Robert Baesa, the head of the city police, stated in a statement that Bernardo Tiñga, 56, was detained on January 20 in Barangay Ususan during a buy-bust.

On account of drug-related accusations, Branch 15 of the Taguig City Regional Trial Court has issued a standing warrant for Tiga's arrest.
The Tiñga Drug syndicate's top officials as well as other high-value drug figures have been apprehended by the city police.
The syndicate had a reputation for being a highly structured organization that operated not only in Taguig but also in other areas of Metro Manila during its heyday.
Joel Tiñga, a member of the syndicate, received a reclusion perpetua sentence (up to 40 years in prison) in 2016 for drug-related offenses.
Elisa "Ely" Tiñga, a cousin of former Taguig Mayor Freddie Tiñga and wife of Noel Tiñga, who is also a member of the syndicate, received the same punishment in February 2017.
She was then listed as the third most sought person on the list of those associated with illegal drugs.
She was also the eighth drug ring member to be detained and imprisoned.
A buy-bust in 2020 resulted in the arrest of Patrick Ace Tiga, another member, and the seizure of shabu valued at approximately PHP20 million.
