On Monday, a fugitive Indian national with a history of criminal offenses in his home country, was arrested through a joint operation in Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect to be the notorious criminal wanted in India, under an alias and using a fake Nepalese passport. Local police found that he has been renting a house and living alone in the country since 2022.
On June 22, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) said that they received a communication from First Secretary Nilesh Kumar Rai of the Embassy of India, requesting for their citizen's arrest and deportation.
They added how he is a notorious criminal involved in several string of crimes such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and robbery. The BI FSU also stated that he leads an organized crime syndicate and is subject to life imprisonment for violating arms laws in India.
He is currently under the custody of BI, awaiting deportation for being an illegally staying alien in the Philippines—a clear violation of the Philippine Immigration Act.
