In an earlier interview with another media outlet, the OCTA Research fellow said that the last time they recorded a 25% positivity rate in NCR was during the Delta wave in 2021.
According to David, the highest number of people tested positive in NCR was in January 2022 when it reached more than 50% during the first Omicron wave.
As of May 14, the Department of Health (DOH) logged 4,115,202 COVID-19 cases with 15,891 active patients.
Despite the rising number of infections, DOH officer-in-charge Ma. Rosario Vergeire earlier said the government is not considering reimposing the mandatory use of face masks.
