Thirty percent of fully vaccinated individuals in Parañaque have received their booster shots, according to Mayor Edwin Olivarez, who encouraged the public to get the jabs amid the threat of the Omicron variant.
"Sa Parañaque, nakaka-30% na po kami nung aming fully vaccianted," Olivarez told DZRH in an interview.
(In Parañaque, we have reached 30% of the fully vaccinated.)
According to the mayor, vaccination centers are accepting walk-in individuals who want to get their jabs or boosters against COVID-19, amid reports that some people have yet to receive their schedule from the city government.
He made the remarks amid the growing threat of the Omicron variant in the country, with the Department of Health previously suggesting the high possibility of community transmission after the detection of local cases.
Currently, Olivarez said there are no Omicron cases in Parañaque, but he urged the public to remain on alert and follow protocols as the strain spreads.
"Nandito po ang banta ng Omicron. Di tayo pwedeng mag-relax, patuloy po tayong sumunod sa ating protocol at hindi pa po nagpapabakuna, magpabakuna na at magpa-booster," he said.
(The threat of Omicron is here. We cannot relax, we need to follow our protocols, and those who have yet to get vaccinated should get vaccinated and get the booster shots.)
