The Office of the Vice President (OVP) said there is a possibility that charges will be filed against those who claimed that Vice President Sara Duterte is using a government chopper to come home to Davao every day.
In a video statement released on Thursday, Sept. 15, OVP spokesperson Reynold Munsayac said they are studying if the claims could qualify as a criminal case.
“[K]asi marami ring naloko at nalinlang 'yung mga ganyang post," he said.
Munsayac said if they do not take such action, the situation might worsen.
"Alam naman natin kapag pinabayaan nating mag-propagate 'yung ganyan, minsan naniniwala 'yung taumbayan," he said.
On Thursday afternoon, Duterte released an official statement addressing the criticisms against the birthday greeting she posted for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Duterte thanked him for lending his 250th Presidential Airlift Wing to make sure she is "home in time" before her children sleep.
“For the President’s birthday, I expressed my appreciation for the man who has shown great concern for a working mother and how he provided his all-out support for his Vice President to be able to move around quickly and accomplish work efficiently,” she said.
“An appreciation was also extended to the President’s team, who works long hours, tirelessly hopping from one island province to another to reach our fellow Filipinos,” Duterte added.
The Vice President pointed out that the person who created the fake claim from a simple appreciation post should “seriously reflect on why he had to lie”.
“I think that if this person can recognize his anger, he will be able to overcome his bitter and spiteful self. Hopefully, he becomes a better version of himself — despite the cycle of hate that has enslaved him,” she said.
