The huge amount of foreign currency bills that was found by a cleaner in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 was claimed by the owner on Tuesday, June 25.
According to the report by RH Sherwin Alfaro, the owner is a Filipino businessman who is based in Mindanao.
He was hidden by the alias "Mohammad," who claimed that he was the one sitting on the benches where the pair of socks containing money were found by the airport cleaner.
Upon checking the CCTV footage, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) confirmed that Mohammad was indeed the owner of the money.
The said money amounted to $18,800, or more than one million pesos.
Mohammad thanked Rosalinda Cellero, the airport cleaner, for her kindness, and the airport authority for their cooperation in returning his money.
On June 20, Cellero found a pair of white socks under one of the benches at the Terminal 3 South final security checkpoint.
After learning the socks contained a huge amount of money, she immediately turned them over to the airport authority.
