An Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) official reported that the Philippine Air Force (PAF) C-295 aircraft, which experienced tire detachment while landing at Basco Airport in Batanes on November 1, has now been towed.

"Kagabi, nai-tow na natin ito doon sa gilid ng Basco airport so we can resume the Basco airport and resume our operations," AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said in an ambush interview with the media on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of exercise DAGITPA on Monday.

According to Gen. Brawner, the aircraft is repairable, and after it made an emergency landing, it was promptly towed as soon as the weather in the area improved.

He further stated that they can now resume sending relief goods to those affected by the recent severe tropical storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon.

In addition, preparations can now be made for the potential impact of the new tropical storm Marce on the country.

"Nag-preposition na tayo ng mga relief goods, ng mga family food packs doon sa Batanes," said Brawner.

The C-295, carrying relief supplies, experienced a tire detachment and made an emergency landing in Basco, Batanes during the onslaught of super typhoon Leon in the area.

At the time of landing in Basco, the severe impact of Typhoon Leon, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain, forced the pilot to maneuver, resulting in the emergency landing and tire detachment.
