Tropical Storm Kong-Rey may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday evening or Sunday morning, October 27, PAGASA said on Saturday, October 26.
The weather bureau's tropical storm advisory indicated that Kong-Rey will be moving westward during the weekend (October 26-27), and turn west northwestward on Monday, October 28. Once it reaches the PAR, it will be given the local name ‘Leon’.
The path of Kong-Rey will however, remain far from the Philippine landmass, but may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
The tropical cyclone is expected to gradually intensify and may reach severe tropical storm category on Sunday, with the possibility of it reaching typhoon category on Monday.
Its outer rainbands may affect Extreme Northern Luzon, and may also continue to influence the South Westerly WIndflow triggered by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
