Malacañang sees no disruption in transportation except in some routes in Metro Manila amid the ongoing transportation strike on Monday, March 6.
In a statement, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said that through the Libreng Sakay program, the government had provided free rides for commuters affected by the transport group strike.
Garafil also cited reports from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Likewise, the Palace official said the EDSA Busway Carousel has not been affected by any transport strike activity as of 10 AM, adding that its operation has been "running smoothly with a low passenger volume observed at all stations."
PNP personnel have also facilitated ferrying affected passengers from Almar Subdivision in Caloocan going to Quezon City.
Authorities have also deployed vehicles to cater to passengers at the Dapitan-Baclaran route.
Meanwhile, the government also prepositioned buses for free rides in Pasay City, Marikina City, Caloocan City, as well as in Quezon City.
A report around 7:15 AM said the EDSA Busway is still operating normally with a moderate to heavy volume of passengers at the southbound from north sector stations, MCU and Roosevelt.
Authorities said it had been addressed, noting they have sufficient buses on the ground to transport stranded passengers.
In Calabarzon at around 6 AM, authorities reported the condition at SM-Crossing Calamba Terminal in the City of Calamba in Laguna.
They reported around 30 stranded passengers in the terminal, adding jeepneys plying the Calamba- Biñan route are in normal operation. Modern jeeps plying the Calamba-Pacita Complex route are also in regular operation.
On Monday, the week-long transportation strike of some groups to opposed the national govenrment's move to phaseout traditional jeepneys and UV express commenced, affecting commuters in several parts of the Metro.
Last week, several transport groups announced their participation in the nationwide strike that will be from March 6-12 regardless of the extension in the franchise consolidation as announced by the Land Transportation Franchising Board (LTRB).
Transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) also staged a protest at Monumento Circle in Caloocan, calling the government to suspend the planned public utility vehicle modernization program (PUV-MP).
