Minors aged 11 years old and below have been prohibited to enter malls in Parañaque City, following an earlier appeal from President Rodrigo Duterte.
"Ang mga batang may edad 11 pababa ay pinapayagan lamang sa mga outdoor areas," the city said in a public advisory.
(Children aged 11 and below are only allowed in outdoor areas.)
They will only be allowed indoors for essential travels, such as for health or legal reasons, or if they are needed for a government transaction.
Meanwhile, the government will be allowing minors aged 12 to 17 to enter malls and other indoor areas regardless of their vaccination status.
However, the said age group must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The policy will be applied in malls, shopping centers, as well as similar establishments.
The new directive comes after President Duterte on Monday night appealed to local government units to implement policies that will bar minors from entering malls, after families flocked to the establishments as restrictions ease.
Duterte cited the case of a two-year-old, who reportedly contracted COVID-19 after visiting a mall. Authorities are now investigating the case.
