The cities of Pasay and San Juan have declared June 30, Thursday as a special non-working holiday in line with the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. at the National Museum.

In separate statements on Wednesday, mayors Emi Calixto-Rubio and Francis Zamora announced the holiday following the expected heavy traffic in some areas in Metro Manila due to road closures and rerouting.

Over the weekend, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the implementation of road closures and traffic rerouting plans in several areas around the National Museum.

The schedule of road closures and rerouting are as follows:

Road closures:

June 26 at 12:01 AM to June 30 at 11 PM:

  • Padre Burgos Avenue
  • Finance Road
  • Ma. Orosa Street - from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos
  • General Luna Street - from P. Burgos to Muralla Street

June 30, 4 AM to 11 PM:

  • Ayala Boulevard
  • Victoria Street - from Taft Avenue to Muralla Street

According to the MMDA, affected vehicles may take the following routes:

  • Northbound vehicles coming from Roxas Blvd. should turn right at U.N. Avenue or Kalaw Avenue, then turn left at Taft Avenue to reach the point of destination.
  • Eastbound vehicles coming from Roxas Blvd. should turn left at Kalaw Avenue or U.N. Avenue, then turn right at Taft Ave. to reach the point of destination.

Meanwhile, the following roads near Malacañang and the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City will also be closed to motorists on the following dates:

  • Mendiola Street: June 29, 12:01 AM, to June 30, 11 PM
  • Jalandoni St., PICC, Pasay City: June 30, 4 AM to 11 PM
  • Legarda Street from San Rafael to Figueras St., Manila: June 30, 1 to 11 PM.

MMDA Chair Romando Artes said the agency will deploy 2,000 personnel from the Traffic Discipline Office, Metro Public Safety Office, and Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group for traffic management, clearing operations, and emergency response.
