The Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159 and the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 106 granted Senator Risa Hontiveros's request to allow religious leader Apollo Quiboloy to appear before the Senate committee hearing scheduled for October 23 at 10 in the morning.
"Viewed from the foregoing, the letter-request to allow the appearance of the accused before the public hearing of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on October 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. is hereby GRANTED," the Court order issued by the Pasig RTC on October 21 stated.
Authorities from the Pasig City Jail, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center are responsible for bringing and escorting Quiboloy, along with his co-accused Jackielyn Wong Roy, Cresente Canada, Ingrid Canada, Paulene Canada, and Sylvia Cemanes, to the Session Hall of the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City.
They are also instructed to implement maximum security measures to ensure the safety and security of all the accused.
In connection with this, the Quezon City RTC Branch 106 also granted permission for Quiboloy to appear before the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, chaired by Senator Hontiveros.
In a letter dated October 14, Hontiveros requested the appearance of the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God," who is facing charges of qualified human trafficking and sexual abuse.
