In an ambush interview after leading Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations’ Day in Pasay City on Monday, Marcos was asked for his response regarding the Department of Education’s proposal to revert back to the old school calendar amid the ongoing El Niño and heatwaves.
The President said he saw the need to bring back the old school calendar, which runs from June to May.
"Hindi na natin kailangan mag-antay pa. I don’t see any objections, especially with the El Nino. Every day you turn on the news, F2F classes are cancelled...so talagang kailangan na kailangan na," he answered.
Asked when it could be implemented, Marcos said, “Hopefully by next year, yes, matatapos na.”
Marcos, however, did not specify if he was referring to next year (2025) or next school year, which begins in 2024 and ends in 2025.
