A police major and his associate, who are suspected to have ties to local gambling operations and allegedly behind the tragic killing of a radio commentator in Oriental Mindoro, have surfaced before the authorities.
The identity of the police major has been withheld for security reasons while the associate was referred to as Felix.
Both individuals have vehemently denied any involvement in the murder of Cresenciano Bundoquin in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro on May 31.
Bundoquin, a respected radio commentator affiliated with Kalahi News FM and MUX online radio, was fatally shot as he was preparing to open his rented store in Barangay Sta. Isabel on May 31.
Sources within the task group overseeing the investigation have reported that the two suspects willingly provided their statements and have been cooperative throughout the investigation.
“The two submitted their respective statements. They are very cooperative in the investigation and said they had no participation in the killing of Bundoquin,” a task group member said.
Colonel Samuel Delorino, the Oriental Mindoro police director leading the special investigation task group, confirmed that a murder complaint has been formally filed against the alleged gunman, identified as Isabelo Bautista, before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
Furthermore, the task force is diligently pursuing leads to determine the owner of the firearm used in the crime.
