The eighth edition of the Joint Military Exercise was officially opened today, focusing on the key services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Named DAGITPA (Dagat, Langit, at Lupa), this exercise brings together assets and personnel from the Philippine Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The opening ceremony of DAGITPA at Camp Aguinaldo was led by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr.

DAGITPA aims to strengthen the capabilities of the major services to collaborate effectively for a unified mission.

The said exercise also includes personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), as well as military reservists.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was noted that alongside the opening of DAGITPA, the Philippine flag was flown at half-mast at the AFP headquarters today to observe the national day of mourning for the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine in the country.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, declared November 4 as a national day of mourning for the victims of severe tropical storm Kristine, which resulted in over 130 casualties and caused significant property damage, including serious impacts on agriculture and critical infrastructure.
