The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded 43 volcanic earthquakes in Kanlaon Volcano on Tuesday, June 4.

Based on PHIVOLCS' summary of 24-hour observation, the Kanlaon volcano remains at Alert Level 2.

It has one explosive eruption that lasted six minutes with 797 tons of Sulfur Dioxide Flux from June 2.

The volcano also emitted a voluminous 5000-meter tall plume that drifted southwest and southeast.

PHIVOLCS also observed that the edifice of the volcano is inflated.

In line with this, the state seismologist prohibited the entry into 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ)

Sudden steam-driven phreatic eruptions may occur according to PHIVOLCS.

Interviewed during Damdaming Bayan on Tuesday, PHIVOLCS Director, Dr. Teresito Bacolol said if the parameters will get worsen, an alert level 3 will be raised.

"Alert level 2 will be maintained until such time ang monitoring parameters natin will significantly change. Kapag ang monitoring parameters ay mag-worsen, magmatic eruption may happen then we have to raise the alert level to alert level 3," said Bacolol.
