The Philippine National Police (PNP) contested the claim that they gave fugitive Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) head Apollo Quiboloy a 2-hour ultimatum in which he could either surrender or his church’s cathedral would be bombed on Wednesday, August 28.
The PNP called Sonshine Media Network International’s (SMNI) report “entirely untrue” and a “baseless accusation” lacking solid evidence, “only serv[ing] to mislead the public.”
“The PNP remains committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, including religious institutions,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement.
“We urge everyone to rely on verified information and not to spread rumors or false claims that can cause unnecessary fear and panic,” they added.
SMNI released a Breaking News post on their Facebook page wherein they claimed they had received a report of the ultimatum. They said that at four in the morning, the PNP along with five civilians had brought in boxed equipment and conducted operations in the area for some hours before allowing the church’s lawyers entry.
Police Regional Office 11 Spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey said the KOJC is once again “spreading another false report” as they had when they declared the agency cut off their water supply and electricity.
