The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Thursday said that it will implement the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to halt all operations of e-sabong.
In a statement, the NCRPO said that it supports the president's directive.
"We strongly support the proclamation of the President to put an end to this online sabong or e-sabong," said the organization in a statement.
"Henceforth, NCRPO will implement the order of our President in Metro Manila and we shall ensure that no such operation exists in our area of responsibility," it added.
The NCRPO further ordered commanders on the ground to see to it that the president's order is carried out.
"Sa lahat na hindi susunod at tatalima sa pinag-uutos na ito ng ating mahal na pangulo ay kakaharapin ang bagsik ng batas na ipapatupad ng NCRPO. Kaya ako ay nananawagan sa lahat na kusa nang huminto sa gawaing ito at tayo ay sumunod sa batas," said NCRPO regional director Felipe Natividad.
(Those who will not comply to the order of the president will face the wrath of the law implemented by the NCRPO. So I am appealing to everyone to voluntarily stop this action and follow the law.)
Prior to Duterte's direction, the Philippine National Police has already prohibited its personnel from participating in online sabong.
To ensure compliance, the NCRPO said it has been inspecting the phones of its personnel as of late.
Duterte ordered this week the halt of e-sabong operations, citing that it is "working against" the nation's values.
