The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that Undas 2024 remains ‘relatively peaceful’ for now, as there are no ‘untoward incidents’ reported during the observance of All Saints’ Day.
The assessment by the PNP for Friday, November 1, indicated that the situation in the country remains peaceful. Moreover, PNP Spokesperson and PBGen. Jean Fajardo said that there are no identified threats found that would rattle the PNP.
Despite this, the number of deployed officers in other areas like cemeteries and terminals, doubled today. During the press briefing at Camp Crame, the PNP announced that they would be deploying 30,000 officers for Undas.
However, RH 52 Edniel Parrosa reported, that the number of deployed officers climbed to 40,115 today—a huge increase compared to yesterday.
Police officials will be on duty until November 4, as Filipinos will be travelling back to their respective areas, and are expecting commuters to flock over to terminals during the end of the long weekend.
Although the PNP is occupied with relief operations for ‘Kristine’, they assured that they had already disseminated tasks to certain groups and would still be on the lookout for possible threats.
