Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla said on Wednesday that over 27,000 police officers are to be sent out all across the nation to ensure the public’s security and be of assistance for this year’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Moreover, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) will be backing the Philippine National Police (PNP) in handling public safety matters and responding to emergencies.
Remulla also cautioned the public against individuals with malicious intent.
“As we commemorate and pray for the souls of our departed loved ones, the DILG urges the public to practice vigilance against criminals and scammers who take advantage of big crowds in cemeteries,’’ he reminded.
The secretary of interior also entreated the public to refrain from consuming alcohol, gambling, and “instigating all forms of disturbances.”
Local government units’ (LGU) Local Peace and Order Council (LPOC), he said, should be ready to lend a hand in maintaining public security.
“They (the LGUs) are also expected to mobilize and deploy traffic enforcers, barangay tanods, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs), medical personnel, and other force multipliers within the vicinity of the said places,’’ Remulla stated.
Remulla assured that the DILG supports a peaceful and orderly commemoration of 2024’s Undas.
