PNP: NCR, Bulacan require vaccine cards on border entry
by John Dexter Tilo06 January 2022

Motorists and commuters entering Bulacan and the National Capital Region are reminded to bring their vaccination cards with them or they will not be granted entry, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP on Thursday said that authorities in Bulacan and NCR have instructed the police to check for proof of vaccination for arriving travelers at border control points.

"Those without vaccination cards will be barred from entering and will be asked to go back," said PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos in a statement.

The PNP has acknowledged the traffic congestion the policy caused in Bulacan, but said it is only the "direct result" of the strict inspection measures.

According to the PNP chief, non-essential travel should be canceled in order to prevent heavy traffic at border points.

"The PNP is fully aware that movement must not be hampered, but non-essential travel can be controlled. Just stay at home at this time when you have nothing important to do outside," Carlos said.

The PNP stressed that it will deploy more personnel on the ground if the heavy volume of vehicles will persist.

The latest requirement comes as Bulacan and NCR are placed under Alert Level 3, with the latter restricting the movement of unvaccinated individuals to just essential travel.
