“Let us also focus common thread that reaffirms the bonds of our kinship and friendship…” says President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. as he greets Filipino-Chinese communities in celebration of the Chinese New Year, last Sunday.
In his message, the chief executive said “We welcome a new dawn that symbolizes boundless wishes for prosperity for our society and ourselves”. He also recognized that celebrations are a way in which binds us together as a family, community and nation.
“As we observe this occasion, let us delve into to the cultural and historical richness that has made our nation the colorful and vibrant society that it is today. Let us focus on the common thread that reaffirms the bonds of our kinship and friendship that have allowed us to withstand all challenges and overcome ordeals that have come our way.” said by the President.
The President added that he is glad to begin a ‘fresh chapter’, together with the Filipino-Chinese community, to secure good fortune, joy, and harmony, and that these will be the ‘guiding light’ in ‘writing our shared history anew’.
The President then reminded everyone to have compassion for the poor.
“May this auspicious day not only remind us of the blessings we have at hand but also inspire us to exercise deeper compassion to those who have less in life.” said the President.
The President encouraged everyone to work ‘hand-in-hand’ and to ‘be renewed with a sense of solidarity, from which our hopes for a better tomorrow will spring forth.’
Moreover, he greeted everyone with a ‘happy and bountiful Chinese New Year’.
