Possible protest actions will be welcomed during the inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte on June 19 in Davao City, the police said Wednesday.

In a media briefing, PNP spokesman Major Maria Teresita Gaspan said protesting groups will need to secure a permit from the local government and ensure that their activity would not disrupt the event and overall public safety/

Earlier, the Philippine National Police announced that a gun ban in Davao City will take effect from June 16 to 21 for Duterte's inauguration at the San Pedro Square on Sunday. Around 20,000 people are expected to attend.

Outgoing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and former President Macapagal-Arroyo have reportedly confirmed their attendance.
