The local government unit (LGU) of Quezon City, on Friday, October 20, started to remove campaign posters displayed in prohibited areas amid the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE).

According to RH Val Gonzales' report on DZRH Dos Por Dos, Quezon City Commission on Elections (Comelec) District 1 and Quezon City Transport and Traffic Management (QCTTM) led the scrapping of the illegal campaign posters.

The Comelec's "Oplan baklas" was conducted a day after the ten-day campaign period commenced.

According to QCTTM Chief Dexter Cardenas, BSKE candidates who are violating COMELEC's rule are just wasting their resources.

Cardenas stressed that all candidates who are involved in such violations will be documented and will be reported to the Comelec's office.

All 142 barangays in Quezon City will be part of Oplan Baklas.

Meanwhile, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said if the candidate's opponent was the one who posted the illegal campaign poster, the candidate who is in the poster should be the one to remove it.

The COMELEC is reminding all the BSKE candidates that lawful campaign materials should only be posted in the designated areas for election posters.
