Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. hopes that Ramadan can be a chance to promote peace in the country.

In a message ahead of the beginning of the holy fasting month for Muslims, Galvez said that Ramadan is a perfect opportunity to bring peace and prosperity to the country through a collaborative effort. The DND Secretary asked the Muslims to have inner reflection, prayer, self-sacrifice, and charity in order to keep their faith and well-being.

Galvez added that he wishes that the observance would remind everyone to be instruments of peace and urged Muslim Filipinos to reflect and reaffirm their commitment to accomplishing their responsibilities to others.

Galvez then encouraged Muslims to be inspired, through the spirit of harmony and understanding, in living and facing the challenges ahead according to the teachings of the Islamic Faith.

“Ramadan Mubarak from your One Defense Team!” Galvez said.

"May the spirit of harmony and understanding according to the teachings of the Islamic faith inspire us to live and face the challenges ahead. Ramadan Mubarak from your One Defense Team!" he added.

Ramadan is a time when Muslims observe worship, fasting, prayer, reflection, and community, and is one of the pillars of Islam. The observance starts in the 9th month of the Islamic calendar.

After a month-long Ramadan fasting, the Muslim community observes Eid’l Fitr which is one of the important Islamic celebrations.
