In case the minority bloc refuses to accept him, Social Amelioration and Genuine Intervention on Poverty (SAGIP) Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta prepares to become an independent member of the Lower House of Congress.

"Kung tatangapin nila ako ay pupunta ako roon dahil iyon ang nakalagay sa batas, sa alintuntunin," Marcoleta said on Friday, September 27, during DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.

"Kapag hindi nila ako tinanggap doon. Magiging independent na lang ako," he added.

During a plenary session on Wednesday, September 25, the 71-year old congressman lost his spot in five committees in the House of Representatives.

House Deputy Majority Leader Jam Baronda made the motion to remove Marcoleta from the Commission on Appointment, and four other committees: energy, justice, public accounts, and constitutional amendments.

Manila Teachers party-list Rep. Virgilio Lacson replaced Marcoleta in the said House panels.

Prior to his expulsion, Marcoleta questioned why the House Appropriations Committee did not immediately terminate the panel deliberations on the proposed 2025 budget of Office of the Vice President as parliamentary courtesy.

The congressman also raised questions on the inquiry of the House Committee on Government and Public Authority on the budget use of the OVP.
