The Supreme Court (SC) announced Sunday, Septemeber 17, that it is planning to release the 2023 Bar examination results by December.

According to Bar chairperson and Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, SC's plan is to release the results before the holiday season.

"For the longest time, Bar examinees have had to endure several months of perceived agony of waiting before the results of the professional licensure exams for future lawyers are released," said Hernando in a press conference.

The simultaneous oath-taking and signing of the Roll of Attorneys will also be conducted in December to ensure that there will be a new batch of lawyers before the end of the year.

Hernando said that around 10,791 aspiring lawyers are expected to take the exams within three days.

The first day of the exam was conducted yesterday, September 17, and will continue on September 20 and 24.

Of that number, 5,821 are first-timers, while 4,970 are re-takers or will try to pass it again. About 2,571 bar personnel were deployed in 14 testing centers throughout the country.

This year's examination is divided into six core subjects, including Political and Public International Law (15%); Commercial and Taxation Laws (20%); Civil Law (20%); Labor Law and Social Legislation (10%); Criminal Law (10%); and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25%).
