Senator Nancy Binay filed a complaint on the Senate Committee on Ethics against Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday, July 8, following their recent feud that prompted Sen. Binay's walk-out move from a committee hearing.
The complaint stemmed from the recent incident that occurred during the Senate Committee on Accounts hearing regarding the construction of the new Senate building in Taguig City.
During the heated exchange of words, Sen. Cayetano mentioned words such as 'marites' and 'buang' pertaining to Sen. Binay. The Senator also accused his colleague of feeding the media with pre-made questions made by her.
Sen. Binay. reiterated that her action to file a complaint is for the sake of her family as it's her way of protecting them. She prevents her children from being bullied as she said occurred in 2015.
"I’m a mother, magulang ako so kailangan kong protektahan din ‘yung mga anak ko na [ayoko na] pagbumalik sila sa iskwelahan may magsasabi sa kanila na ‘yung ‘nanay mo pala siraulo kasi tinawag ni Senator Cayetano na buang," Binay said in a statement during a presscon on Monday.
"So this is not just about me as a senator, this is also about me as a mother," the Senator added.
Meanwhile, Cayetano claims that Binay knows that the complaint is futile.
"Pwede ko rin s’yang file-an ng ethics case dahil unethical din mga pinanggagagawa n’ya," Sen. Cayetano said in an ambush interview on Monday.
Cayetano mentioned that it is improper for a non-member of the committee to barge in and cause a commotion in the hearing.
