San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced that toll fees on its expressways will be waived during Christmas and New Year’s Eve to help ensure smoother travel for motorists during the holidays.
In a statement on Friday, SMC announced that toll fees for motorists will be waived from 10:00 PM on December 24 to 6:00 AM on December 25, and again from 10:00 PM on December 31 to 6:00 AM on January 1, 2025.
The following expressways will be included in the toll fee waiver:
- Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX)
- South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
- Skyway System
- NAIA Expressway (NAIAX)
- STAR Tollway
"This is our way of saying thank you to everyone who uses the expressways we operate," SMC Chairman Ramon S. Ang said.
"It’s something we look forward to every year because it helps thousands of motorists get home to their families a little easier, especially during Christmas and New Year," he added.
Additionally, SMC deployed patrollers and security personnel to key areas, while emergency response teams will be on standby throughout the peak travel season.
To ease traffic flow, roadworks will be suspended from Friday noon until January 3, 2025. Tow trucks and emergency vehicles will also be strategically stationed along key areas.
SMC also urged motorists to exercise patience as heavy traffic around Metro Manila is expected, which may impact their travel plans or scheduled flights.
The company also advised motorists to plan their trips in advance, allow extra time for travel to ensure timely arrival, and inspect their vehicles beforehand to ensure they are roadworthy and avoid potential incidents on the expressways.
SMC reminded motorists to check that their Autosweep RFID accounts have sufficient load to avoid delays at exits.
