Brian Poe, First Nominee of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Partylist, emphasized the need for sports development programs to promote youth participation and strengthen the Philippine sports industry.
"Sports can serve as an outlet for young people, where they learn valuable life lessons and other essential skills reducing their vulnerability to harmful social influences. It helps promote the values of unity, resilience, and teamwork, which the youth can apply in other aspects of their daily life," Poe expressed during the recent ZCL 2 Supremacy event.
The competition, hosted by Zeus Combat League on October 26 at SM North Skydome, aimed to raise the profile of mixed martial arts (MMA) in the Philippines. Led by CEO Rocco Nacino, ZCL hopes to develop Filipino fighters capable of representing the country internationally.
As a former athlete himself, Poe underscored the need for more support in the sports sector, including private initiatives, to increase opportunities for youth to engage in various sports.
