Severe Tropical Storm Hanna has intensified and slowed down while moving westward in the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said in its latest bulletin on Thursday.
At 10 AM, PAGASA said it spotted the center of Hanna at 1,160 kilometers (km) East of Extreme Northern Luzon.
Hanna has 110 km per hour (kph) winds, which could gust up to 135 kph.
It is heading westward at 10 kph speed and is foreseen to move in a west northwestward direction in the next 24 hours.
No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) is hoisted due to Hanna at this time.
The state weather bureau said its forecast track showed that Hanna will be far from the landmass, and it will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday.
“Outside the PAR region, HANNA will continue to move over the East China Sea and make landfall over the east coast of mainland China on Sunday. Rapid weakening will ensue following its landfall over mainland China,” it noted.
HEAVY RAINFALL
Hanna and Super Typhoon Saola, formerly known as Goring, will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon.
Due to this, the western portion of Luzon may experience occasional to monsoon rains in the next three days.
“Forecast rainfall are generally higher in elevated or mountainous areas. Under these conditions, flooding and raininduced landslides are expected especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several day,” PAGASA said.
SEVERE WINDS
On Thursday and Friday, gusty conditions will be persistently felt in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the northern portion of Eastern Visayas.
On Saturday, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Aurora, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the northern portion of Eastern Visayas will also experience gusty conditions.
The state weather bureau retained the gale warning over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas due to hazardous sea conditions.
