The teacher who allegedly slapped the 14-year-old student in Antipolo, Rizal has been suspended for 90 days.
According to RH Henri Uri's live report in MBC Network News, the Department of Education (DepEd) has filed a 90-day suspension for Mirasol Sison, the teacher from Peñafrancia Elementary School who allegedly slapped her student that led to his death.
DepEd said that the suspension was in line with its rules while the case was under proceedings.
The suspension will start today, October 10.
On October 2, fifth-grade student Francis Jay Gumikib reportedly died, 11 days after the alleged slapping.
It has been said that the cause of the slapping was Gumikib being disruptive in class.
However, Gumikib's death certificate showed that he died due to global brain edema, with an antecedent cause of acute intraparenchymal hemorrhage or bleeding into the brain tissue.
In an exclusive interview during DZRH Damdaming Bayan on October 3, the teacher denied that she slapped Gumikib, but her hands touched its face.
Antipolo City Police have filed a homicide case against Sison for violating Republic Act 7610.
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said it will also be conducting their own investigation regarding the incident.
