In August, the Anti Terrorism Council (ATC) designated Teves and 12 other individuals, who were allegedly members of his armed group, as terrorists.

He was also tagged as the mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, with a Manila court already issuing an arrest warrant against the former.

The former lawmaker was recently spotted in Timor-Leste. He earlier entered the country to seek asylum in May but was denied by the Timor-Leste government.
