The Senate on Monday filed three resolutions that acknowledged the work and service of the late Fidel V. Ramos as the 12th president of the Philippines.

According to RH28 Raymund Dadpaas’ report on Rapido Hataw Balita, Senate Resolution 72 filed by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, recognized the service of Ramos as a “gallant, dutiful, and decorated soldier” during the Korean and Vietnam war.

It also recognized Ramos for his service as the deputy chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine Constabulary, director general of the Philippine Integrated National Police, and Secretary of the National Defense.

The Resolution also cited several accomplishments of Ramos when he served as the 12th president, such as his economic reforms that helped the Philippines to overcome the financial crisis that hit East Asia in 1997; the peace agreement between the government and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in 1996; and his continued campaign for the unity of leaders around the world even in his retirement.

The Senate also expressed profound sympathy and sincere condolence to the family of the former president.

Following this, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva and Senate Tempore Loren Legarda filed Senate Resolutions No. 73 and No. 75 that also contain the same recognition for the former president.

The three resolutions are the priority agendas of the Senate in its session.

The co-sponsors are Senators Bong Revilla, Raffy Tulfo, Robinhood Padilla, Christopher "Bong" Go, and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
