Toriano Adaryll Jackson, commonly known as Tito Jackson, passed away on Sunday, September 15, his family confirmed. He was 70 years old.

His sons, TJ, Taj, and Taryll Jackson, confirmed the legendary musician’s passing late Sunday through an Instagram post.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken,” they wrote.

“Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as “Coach Tito” or some know him as “Poppa T.” Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be “Tito Time” for us,” they continued.

They concluded the statement by asking fans to continue what their father always preached: "Love one another."

The American musician rose to stardom in the late 1960s and 70s as a founding member of the pop band Jackson 5 (also known as The Jacksons), which included his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and lead singer Michael.

Their breakthrough hit, "I Want You Back," topped the charts in 1969 and was followed by several other hit songs. The group became a household name in the 1970s, regularly appearing on television and selling more than a dozen albums.

By the end of the decade, the group rebranded as The Jacksons, while Michael Jackson pursued a successful solo career. In 1997, the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
