Tuguegarao City will be placed under 10-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting August 12in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 cases in the area.

In a Facebook post, the city government said the lockdown was decided after the city reported an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 31.8%, the highest in Cagayan Valley. The city also logged nine deaths in a single day.

Under Executive Order No. 98 signed by Tuguegarao mayor Jefferson Soriano, residents aged below 18 and above 65 years old are urged to stay at home.

Only essential travel such as buying essential goods and services, and going to workplace authorized to operate will be allowed.

A curfew and liquor ban will also be implemented from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

The LGU also suspended public transportation, but back riding on motorcycles will be allowed. Riders should are required to present a barangay certification to prove that the driver and passenger are living under the same residence.

Mass gatherings are also prohibited, with religious services to be held online only except for burial masses.

Talipapa, satellite markets, and restaurants are allowed to operate daily, but the latter is limited to take-out and delivery.

Vaccination will also continue under ECQ.
