Senator Raffy Tulfo on Wednesday filed a resolution that urges a Senate Committee to investigate “arrogant and condescending” government employees as he eyes filing an “Anti-Taray Bill”.

In Senate Resolution No. 554, Tulfo cited that incidents of harassment, misconduct, and human rights violations have been reported involving employees of the government.

“Several complaints have surfaced online relating not only to immigration and airport personnel, but across government offices such as those providing health and welfare services, public utilities, transportation, and communication services, the Philippine National Police, educational and training institutions - all relating to the arrogant, harassing, and condescending behavior of government frontlines,” he said.

According to the Senator, these acts are “adversely affecting the public services for the people” and that it creates “an atmosphere of fear and mistrust in government institutions, agencies, and personnel.”

For this reason, Tulfo wants to impose stricter penalties against snobbish and rude government workers such as dismissal and permanent disqualification from office.

The Senator said it is about time to punish government workers who burden their fellow Filipinos.

“Public officials and employees shall at all times be accountable to the people and shall discharge their duties with utmost responsibility, integrity, competence, and loyalty, act with patriotism and justice, lead modest lives, and uphold public interest over personal interest,” he underscored.
