A police official said that a twin sisters died and 26 others were injured when the company truck they were riding in overturned along the national highway in this city early Wednesday.

According to Lt. Col. Paul Andrew Cortes, city police information officer, the vehicle accident occurred 25 kilometers away in Barangay Sangali. At around 5 a.m., east of the city proper on Wednesday.

Cortes stated that the victims were on board an Aquatic Food Manufacturing Corp. truck when it overturned and crashed into a house while negotiating a descending curve in the village.

Police have identified one of the two fatalities as Nursiya Taring, but the identity of her twin sister has yet to be determined.

According to Dr. Afdal Kunting, chief of the Zamboanga City Medical Center, all injured victims were brought to the hospital, but the attending physician declared the twins dead.

Kunting stated that six of the 26 injured victims have been admitted, while the rest have been advised to go home after being treated for minor injuries.

According to the police, the truck driver, Banny Molina Martinez Jr., 26, was slightly injured.
