The Philippines added two more gold medals to its tally in the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
On May 11, athletics veteran Eric Cray captured his sixth consecutive gold medal in the men's 400m hurdles event.
A day prior, soft tennis player Joseph Arcilla overcame the sweltering Cambodian heat and cramps to win the men's individual singles event and secure the Philippines' 26th gold medal in the SEA Games.
Arcilla's win was a welcome boost for the Philippine team, which had experienced a slow day with athletes falling short of the top prize in other gold-rich sports such as athletics and swimming.

With these latest victories, the Philippines’ gold medal count now stands at 27 with 51 silver and 65 bronze medals.
