The latest observation report of Mayon Volcano reveals that it is continuously effusing a very slow lava flow.

In its bulletin issued at 8 AM, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) observed that during this period, a very slow effusion of lava flow was observed, extending to lengths of approximately 2.23 kilometers along Mi-isi Gully and 1.3 kilometers along Bonga Gully.

However, both gullies experienced lava collapse within distances of 3.3 kilometers and 4 kilometers, respectively, from the volcano's crater.

In addition to the lava flow, a dome-collapse pyroclastic density current event was recorded, indicating ongoing volcanic activity.

Seismicity monitoring detected a total of 65 volcanic earthquakes, accompanied by 254 rockfall events.

In terms of gas emissions, sulfur dioxide flux measurements showed a rate of 1002 tonnes per day, recorded on June 30, 2023.

The volcanic plume reached a height of approximately 2000 meters above the summit. It exhibited moderate emission levels and was observed drifting in an east-northeast to west direction.

Ground deformation analysis indicates inflation in the volcano's edifice, suggesting pressure buildup within the volcano.

Authorities have prohibited entry into the 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) around Mayon Volcano to ensure public safety. Flying aircraft near the volcano is also strictly prohibited. Hazards include rockfalls, avalanches, and ballistic fragments.

Caution is advised near lava flows and fountaining. Pyroclastic density currents and moderate-sized eruptions are possible. Heavy rainfall can trigger lahars.

Stay informed and follow safety guidelines for Mayon Volcano.
