A $24M airstrip extension and rehabilitation will take place at the Cesar Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga on March 20, the United States Embassy in Manila said.

Under the 2014 Philippine-US Enhanced Defense Cooperation (EDCA), there are 5 military sites wherein facilities and structures will be built. These are the Fort Magsaysay Military Reservation in Nueva Ecija, Lumbia Airfield in Cagayan De Oro, Antonio Bautista Air Base in Palawan, Benito Ebuen Air Base in Cebu and the said Cesar Basa Air Base in Pampanga.

Still, under EDCA, these agreed areas can be used for training exercises and humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) activities by both Philippine and US troops.

Last February, both countries agreed on 4 yet-to-be-identified EDCA sites to further progress the full implementation of the deal.
