Vegetable prices are expected to increase less than two weeks before Christmas, the Department of Agriculture said on December 13.

In a Laging Handa public briefing, DA deputy spokesperson Rex Estepores said they have received information about a price hike for vegetables which is a normal occurrence during the holiday season.

Esteporez added that the vegetables in the northern area have increased, particularly those used as ingredients for the Filipino noodle dish.

However, based on the information prices also dropped due to high supply which DA expects that the vegetables people need for Christmas should be reasonable, he said.

Meanwhile, per kilo prices for tomatoes and potatoes dropped by P10 at P130 and P90 respectively.
